Our Volunteers
We have more than 200 active volunteers who contribute their time and energy to support AIO’s programs. They are truly the lifeblood of the organization. Annually volunteers give more than 15,000 hours of time. We welcome new volunteers all the time. To learn more about the types of opportunities available please visit our Volunteer page.
AIO was started over 30 years ago by a group of congregations in the Midcoast who came together around the idea of creating a supportive place for Knox County residents to go who need food or energy assistance. Read more about our history here.
The responsibilities of membership for faith communities are:
encourage their congregations to volunteer their time and talents to AIO’s mission
contribute canned and shelf-stable foods, as well as monetary gifts
The support we get from this community is abundant and we are very grateful!
If your congregation is interested in becoming a supporting faith community, please contact us: email@aiofoodpantry.org or (207) 596-1043.
