Our Programs Run On Volunteers

Thank you for serving as a volunteer and helping us achieve our mission of respectfully and compassionately supporting those in need in Knox County with food and energy assistance.

As a mostly volunteer organization, we simply could not provide the services we do without you. You are the backbone of this operation!

Volunteer Resources

Good Shepherd Food Bank and its partner agencies are responsible for following standards of practice that ensure the safe and proper handling of donated food.

Agencies are responsible for ensuring that their program staff and volunteers are trained properly in personal hygiene and safe handling of food.

All together, the five online videos take about an hour to watch. The assessment takes about 15 minutes to complete. Upon completion of the assessment, a certificate is emailed to the trainee and a copy is retained on file by GSFB.

Videos

Food Safety is Important
Good Personal Hygiene
Receiving and Storing Food Safely
Evaluating, Repacking, and Transporting Food Safely
Cleaning and Sanitizing

After watching the videos, please take the 30 question test of food safety knowledge. (Partner Agency = Area Interfaith Outreach)

Training Assessment

You do not need to forward your completion certificate to us.
