Our 5th annual Fill The Stand event on January 20 was a great success! Despite the snowstorm overnight volunteers and donors turned out to help us successfully fill all 345 seats in the Strand Theatre not once, but twice! We are incredibly grateful to our two partners and our collaboration with the Strand Theatre and Allen Insurance and Financial.

The Strand staff had the lights on, the coffee brewed and the theater ready to receive donations.  Allen Insurance and Financial employees were on hand to help greet, collect, and sort incoming food donations. The generosity of the community has been remarkable- with more than 2,300 pounds of food collected, sorted and integrated into AIO’s market by the end of the day. Nearly $40,000 was raised through financial donations and sponsorships. We collected enough food (and funds to buy food) for all of the AIO food programs - the Market, our Weekend Meals Program and the School snack program - for about 6 weeks. This gets us through the critical weeks of deep winter. 

This event is a critical food and fundraiser to help AIO provide services during the most challenging time of the year. More than 400 families now who rely on AIO for food assistance each week, the Fill The Strand event is essential to sustaining the high level of service, help, and dignity AIO provides.
